Earthquake Knowledge

Wearing underwear in bed.

Despite all the warnings, the seminars on Earthquake procedures and measures to help in the aftermath of a major earthquake, the horror stories of the tragic earthquake in '99, the only thing I ended up changing in my approach to Earthquake measures was to start wearing pants or shorts in bed. Just in case.

What a terrible ex-pat.

  1. Once I had the presence of mind (and the free time? how?) to put together a bag with some tins of food and a change of clothes and a bottle of water by the door. But then one night I was thirsty and hadn't ordered water... so... and then I didn't have any groceries in the house and was too poor to yemek sepeti... so... then of course at some point I needed to rifle through the bag cause I hadn't done laundry... sooo....
Good call on the shorts, though. Seems easy enough.

  2. Haha.

We were advised to make copies of all important documents, in anticipation of functioning in a chaotic, post-earthquake environment, when you've lost your original documentation.

This seemed sensible enough. I made a decision to get all my stuff copied that night. But then some friends came round with a few cans of Efes...

    Getting our priorities right, hey?
